Founder and Managing General Partner

Vince Owens has 25 years of medical device industry experience, including several successful exits as start-up founder and CEO.  Most recently, he was co-founder and CEO of Intelect Medical, a deep brain stimulation technology company acquired by Boston Scientific in 2011.  Mr. Owens holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from Ashland University.  Mr. Owens serves on the boards of several privately held medical device companies including CSA Medical, Functional Neuromodulation, Enspire DBS, and Cardiosolv Ablation Technologies.

Scott Kokones was cofounder and Sr. VP of R&D for Intelect Medical through successful acquisition by Boston Scientific in 2011.  Prior to joining Intelect, Mr. Kokones held various R&D engineering and leadership roles at Medtronic and Enpath Medical, where he worked on implantable devices for SCS, CRDM, and DBS.  He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Boston University.  Mr. Kokones currently serves on the boards of several privately held companies.

KEITH CARLTON Founder and General Partner

Keith R Carlton, Co-Founder and General Partner at GMV, is the Chief Executive Officer of HUINNO, Inc., a developer of innovative healthcare technologies that continuously, accurately, and instantly measure clinically-relevant biometrics.  Prior to HUINNO, Mr. Carlton held multiple positions at Boston Scientific Neuromodulation including Director of New Therapy Development.  Mr. Carlton joined Boston Scientific through the acquisition of Intelect Medical where he was a Co-Founder and VP of Product Development.  Prior to founding Intelect, Mr. Carlton also held various roles at Medtronic Neurological and Texcel Medical (now Cirtec Medical).  Mr. Carlton holds over 35 patents around electrical stimulation products and therapies.  He holds dual B.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Engineering Mechanics from The Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from Boston University.

Greg Schulte is founder and CEO of 525 Medical, a medical device research and engineering firm he founded to provide R&D services to early and late stage medical device companies.  Prior to joining GMV, Mr. Schulte led Mechanical Engineering for Intelect Medical, including development of the company's Accupoint Directional DBS Lead, through Boston Scientific's acquisition of Intelect in 2011.  He has also held R&D engineering roles at EnteroMedics, Enpath Medical and Medtronic.  Mr.  Schulte earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Outside General Counsel

Art McGivern serves as outside general counsel to Guide Medical Ventures.  Art is a partner at Goodwin Procter LLP and a member of its Life Sciences and Capital Markets Practices.  He represents emerging and public life science companies in day-to-day corporate matters and provides strategic counsel on major business transactions including public and private securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions and other complex transactions.  In addition, Art's practice includes representing venture capital funds, royalty funds, hedge funds  and investment banks in their transactions.  Art earned his J.D. from Boston University school of Law and a B.S.C.E. from Tufts University.
